Monastic Training
The monastic training lasts 4 years and takes place in the Honora Zen Monastery it begins in October each year.
Prerequisite:
- Member of the catholic Church
- of legal age
- Swiss residence permit
- Completed vocational training
- Three-month stay in a monastery
- Monastic consecration
Postulate - Monastic Training
Entry into the monastery begins with the postulancy, in which the novices must prove their determination. The postulate lasts one week and consists of the following parts:
- 3 days kneeling without a break asking for admission (except for meals and 5 hours of night rest).
- 3 days of meditation without a break (except for meals and 5 hours of night rest).
Novitiate - Monastic Training
The monastic training is called the novitiate. Every year the novices are called before the abbot for an examination, to determine whether or not the novice will be permitted to remain in the monastery. If the novice wishes to remain, he or she is severely reproached for his or her behavior during the past term and must promise to endure the harsher training of the one to come.
Pilgrimage
At the end of the monastery training, the monks and nuns must independently undertake a 6-month pilgrimage.
