Monastic Consecration Ordination

With the monastic consecration (Ordination) one becomes a monk or nun and spends one's entire existence in search of the truth. In Zen we believe that a journey to the truth must begin with one's own decision and that it is achieved through one's own efforts. Therefore, a new student should be pushed back instead of invited.

Vows -Monastic Consecration -  Ordination

The vows are expression and reinforcement and motivate the daily practice of compassion and wisdom, for the practical implementation in everyday life for the benefit of all living beings.

  • Living beings are innumerable. I vow to set them all free.
  • Desires are inexhaustible. I vow to end them all.
  • The teachings are limitless. I vow to master them all.
  • The path to enlightenment is endless. I vow to complete it.

Tonsure - Monastic Consecration -  Ordination

Shaving the hair of the head is an important part of monasticism. The shaved head is a symbol of a monk's and nun's strong will to break from secular illusions and delusions.
